As we approach the last few days of the current financial year, I thought it would be a good idea to get on the bandwagon and announce that we are having an End of Financial Year Sale, just so we don’t feel left out.
Only Joking, we don’t need to wait for key dates to have a sale, we have a sale all year round. I personally don’t see the EOFY as anything more than a date that the financial reporting period ends and a new period begins. We all know the annoying advertisements from numerous well-known companies that constantly pop up around this time of year. This date is obviously important to those that deal with accounting, tax, and business owners. Business owners need to finalise and close their accounts for this period, but how does the EOFY impact the average person?
The average person’s interest in EOFY is usually around doing their personal taxes, and then falling off the chair once they find out how much tax they have actually paid, and then realising that they are not going to get as much of a refund as they originally thought.
So, do we really need to celebrate EOFY or is this the retail industry conditioning our minds into thinking that there is something to celebrate? When you feel like celebrating, you also need to buy new things, right? Don’t get me wrong the retail industry needs as much help as they can get right now, however, I don’t think this is the best way to do it.
So we’ll try my way. Instead of making you spend money. I’ll reward you with $300 for every customer you send me that proceeds. Yes, you can use that money for EOFY sales if that’s what makes you happy.
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I’ve lost almost 300 games.
26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.
I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life.
And that is why I succeed.” – Michael Jordan
